Trips and Doctor

The past few weeks have been crazy. I took the girls out of town to El Paso to see Clay's family. I was really excited because I got to go to my sister in laws Baby Shower. I flew with the girls and that was just as crazy as driving 10 hours. Halfway into the flight Elyse said that she needed to go the bathroom. I looked at her and said that she needed to hold it. What a bad mom I am. I felt bad. I saw that the flight attendant was coming towards us and I asked him how I could take both of the girls to the bathroom. He said that he would hold the baby for me! What a relief! She is afraid of any stranger and she actually sat with him for the few minutes that I was helping Elyse! Clay met us about a week later and we went up to Ruidoso, New Mexico for his brother's senior graduation. We than drove home on this past Monday. The usual ten hour trip took us almost 13 hours with all the stops that we had to make. Torture! Looking back flying is definately something I am going to push a little more often!!!
Today I had to take Elyse to the Ear Nose and Throat Specialist. She has been getting ear infections like crazy! (About once a month since December.) We went to Presby Allen and as we were driving up to park this is the conversation that we had.

Me: Elyse, this is the hospital that you and Madyson were born. Do you remember last year when Mommy had Madyson and you came to see us?

Elyse: (nod of the head and silence)

I proceed to take her out of the car.

Elyse: But Mommy... I don't have a baby in my tummy why are we coming here?

I started laughing it was the cutest thing she has said in a while that I can actually remember.

Needless to say...she is getting tubes in her ears on June 11th. She also had ANOTHER ear infection. I am ready for the tubes. I missed a lot of school and work this sememster. I want her to feel better as well. Speaking of feeling better I had better get off and go pick up her medicine!

Seriously! I hate Doctors offices! When Gracie was born she got bladder infections like crazy! Nightmare! So you take them to the doctor and then they pick up the flu or a cold! Yuck! I like to stay clear at all possible! The Scentsy thing has been a pretty fun little hobby of mine...I love Sweet Pea...we will see how long it sticks! I am not a big salesy person and I always seem to get myself way busier than I should! Good to hear from you!

Good luck! I hope it helps her. No fun dealing with ear infections. . . although I am amazed that she doesn't complain more. She's a tough girl!

So sad about having so many ear infections...so hopefully the tubes will help. Having sick kids is AWFUL!

Funny conversation, BTW!

I liked your story about Elyse and the hospital. I'm sorry to hear about her ears. I had bad infections as a baby and I also to get tubes. Good luck!

That´s hilarious. I love the show...Kids say the darndest things...maybe you should film that one again and send it there. Hahahaha. Glad to hear you had a good trip and are doing well. Happy Anniversary. I can´t believe 4 years have already gone by...crazy stuff.

Gotta love flying with kids! My sis flew with her two when they were young and we laugh uncontrollably when she describes a time SHE had to use the bathroom. She had to have her toddler pull her pants down for her. Good thing there's doors on the lavatories (what a fun word!).
And, in case anyone is looking for a great way to treat ear infections ...garlic oil...you can get it in any health food store (i've found the expensive stuff to really be better..grr!). Austin had so many ear infections his first year. Found a new DR and he started an ear infection last fall. Went straight to the garlic oil and he would giggle when I put it in. It does feel good! Anytime he got a runny nose, I started with the oil and he didn't have a single ear infection all year. I'm a believer. I hear tubes are great though for the poor kiddos who just can't get rid of the infections. Good luck!!
